Hammersmith Library, with my publisher Head of Zeus, put on a thought-provoking and fun evening on Thursday 28th May 2015. Elly Griffiths was a wonderful chair with panelists, retired Chief Superintendent Stephen Cassidy, Frank Pacifico Senior operator/trainer and train tester on the London Underground and me.
We discussed how Stephen and Frank have helped with my research for The Detective’s Daughter novels. Does keeping to the facts matter in fiction? How Stephen and Frank not only provided facts, but their experience – the day to day stuff that isn’t in manuals or set in stone in systems and processes – to give my stories specific plausibility.
It is for evenings such as these – put on by the hardworking staff of Hammersmith Library and helped by the HoZ team – that we must keep our libraries open.
